Symmetry Medical to purchase Olsen Medical

Symmetry Medical has signed an agreement to purchase Olsen Medical’s assets in an all-cash transaction, upon meeting all pre-closing conditions. The sum was not disclosed.

Olsen, based in Louisville, Ky., sells single-use and reusable bipolar and monopolar forceps, cords, electrosurgical pens and pencils, electrodes and accessories. Its products are sold in the U.S. and internationally through distributors. Olsen's domestic distributor network includes Symmetry’s subsidiary Specialty Surgical Instrumentation (SSI).

Warsaw, Ind.-based Symmetry, a supplier of orthopedic implants, surgical instruments, sterilization cases, trays and other medical devices, anticipates the transaction will be neutral to its 2011 financial results, excluding acquisition and integration-related charges, and that it will be accretive to its 2012 financial results, according to the release.
