Philips Healthcare switches CEOs; Rusckowski goes to Quest

Royal Philips Electronics has appointed Deborah DiSanzo as CEO of Philips Healthcare and member of its executive committee, effective May 1. DiSanzo will succeed Stephen H. Rusckowski, who will leave the company on April 30 to succeed Surya N. Mohapatra, PhD, as president and CEO of Quest Diagnostics in Madison, N.J., effective May 1.

DiSanzo joined Philips in 2001 when Philips acquired Agilent’s Healthcare Solutions Group. She became general manager of patient monitoring in June 2006 and CEO of healthcare informatics and patient monitoring in June 2008. In April 2010, DiSanzo became CEO of patient care and clinical informatics.

“After more than ten years with Philips, I am ready to take on a new challenge in the healthcare industry,” said Rusckowski, who also joined Philips in 2001 when it acquired Agilent’s Healthcare Solutions Group. In November 2006, he became CEO of Philips Healthcare. 

Prior to his current role, Rusckowski was CEO of the imaging systems business group within Philips Healthcare. Before joining Philips, he held management positions with the healthcare division of Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies. 

Mohapatra will remain in his role through April 30. Rusckowski will become a member of Quest's board of directors. The company also announced that Daniel C. Stanzione, PhD, currently lead independent director, will become non-executive chairman of the board, effective May 1.
