Humana and Heritage launch MA partnership
Humana is collaborating with Heritage Provider Network, a large physician-led value-based care organization, on a value-based agreement to offer coordinated, patient-centered care to Humana’s Medicare Advantage members in Southern and Central California.
The move is just the latest partnership for Humana, one of the nation’s largest health insurance and MA providers. The Louisville, Kentucky-based healthcare services and insurance company has recently announced a string of new partnerships, including launching an initiative with the University of Chicago to better serve its MA members. Humana has more than 3.5 million MA members in its plans. The company also recently announced a new digital health and analytics initiative, an expanded partnership with wearables company Fitbit and a partnership with the University of Houston.
Under the new agreement, Humana’s MA HMO plan members in Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties and its dual eligible special needs plan members in Kern and Ventura counties will have in-network access to HPN’s physicians and facilities throughout Southern and Central California.
HPN’s physicians will also have access to new tools, real-time data and care support from Humana.
“We are excited to offer our southern California Medicare Advantage members additional access to value-based care through our new relationship with Heritage,” Rick Beavin, California Medicare president for Humana, said in a statement. “By working together with Heritage, we are able to better serve Humana Medicare Advantage members and offer them high-quality care with the goal of improving their health and well-being.”
HPN is one of the nation’s largest physician-owned and operated integrated delivery systems in the nation, with more than 50 related healthcare companies encompassing numerous hospital, pharmacy, urgent and primary care and surgical center collaborations. HPN and affiliates have more than 3,600 primary care physicians and 10,000 specialists and 40 years in managed care experience.
“We will be able to coordinate care needs across our entire system and tailor healthcare services proactively that will bring added value to Humana Medicare Advantage members by increasing their access to healthcare services in all of our medical provider groups throughout Southern and Central California, creating a robust care network,” Richard Merkin, MD, president and CEO of HPN, said in a statement.
