TrumpRx launches with 40 brand-name medications available, including popular weight-loss drugs

As of Feb. 5, TrumpRx.gov is officially live, with 40 drugs now available at discounted direct-to-consumer rates. For now, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono, Novo Nordisk and Pfizer have all agreed to sell certain brand-name, non-generic drugs through the platform.

Announced in September 2025, the website offered drug companies a pathway to avoid high import tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration. By agreeing to sell some of their most popular, high-cost pharmaceuticals through TrumpRx, the manufacturers were given a grace period where they could import taxes.  

For example, Pfizer—the first company to sign on—was given a three-year exemption from tariffs on all foreign manufactured pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. When making the announcement about TrumpRx, the CEO of the company, Albert Bourla, PhD, joined Trump and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the Oval office. 

Trump was quick to invite other pharmaceutical developers to sign on to earn their own reprieve from import levies. 

The other four manufacturers joined at later dates, with the website initially expected to launch in January 2026. Most recently, it was announced Cigna’s Express Scripts would be supporting TrumpRx as part of a settlement deal with the Federal Trade Commission—but the details are a little fuzzy.

And indeed, the lack of details has been the story of TrumpRx.gov so far. Earlier this week the website was still down, with a plain text announcement simply saying it was "coming soon." Questions remained about how patients could access drugs, if the pricing would scale based on insurance, and if commercial insurance could be used at all. 

All that was really revealed up until launch was that discounts would likely range from 50% to 85% off the sticker price. 

The entire effort is part of a larger push by Trump to reduce the cost of domestic drugs by implementing “most favored nation” pricing rules, meaning drug companies would charge patients in the U.S. no more than what’s paid abroad. 

Trump’s HHS has developed a framework for compliance, which 16 major drug companies have agreed to. But it remains to be seen how much prices will actually go down and how insurance will impact costs.

Tremendous deals for those paying cash

Central to the plan has been direct-to-consumer drug sales that would provide discounts to those who can't get their drug costs covered. Many of the initial 40 drugs on TrumpRx are being offered at the same rates paid by other countries in the “developed world,” according to the homepage. The assortment represents widely prescribed medications, many of which are used to treat chronic conditions. 

“America was being overcharged for medicine. The same drugs, made in the same factories, at the same dosages, are costing Americans up to 1,000% more than in any other country. This is unacceptable,” TrumpRx.gov reads. 

Notably, the government-run website doesn’t sell anything. Instead, it offers patients two ways to access the drugs: By affiliate links into a direct-to-consumer portal from the manufacturer, or by printing out a coupon that can be redeemed at a pharmacy.

The full list of medications can be found here. It includes treatments for COPD, osteoporosis, dermatitis, asthma and more, as well as fertility drugs. In some cases, listed discounts include hundreds of dollars in price cuts. 

The page for each substance includes details such as side effects, answers to common questions and more, including instructions on how to get a prescription from your doctor.

At the center of the website—highlighted on the front page—are popular GLP-1 weight loss medications, including Wegovy, Zepbound and Ozempic. Monthly doses range from $149 to $299 a month, representing discounts upwards of 80%. 

All listed prices are the out-of-pocket rate, with it noted that insured pricing varies by coverage.

“This is just the beginning,” the website promises.
