70% of adults are vaccinated in these 12 states
Twelve states are meeting President Biden’s goal to have 70% of the U.S. adult population vaccinated against COVID-19 by July 4, CNBC reported.
California, Maryland, Vermont, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, Rhode Island, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire have all met the threshold, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found.
Overall, at least 51% of adults have received at least one dose of a vaccine and 41% are fully vaccinated.
On June 2, Biden announced the month as a National Month of Action to spur American adults to get vaccinated. Several states and private businesses have incentivized people to get vaccinated by signing up participants in lotteries for cash prizes, up to $1 million in some cases. The announcement includes efforts to make it easier for adults to get vaccinated, such as childcare help and longer pharmacy hours.
