Google develops AI to predict medical outcomes

Artificial intelligence (AI) researchers at Google have developed an AI system capable of predicting patient’s medical outcomes once admitted to the hospital.

The AI, which was developed using three deep neural networks, was trained on electonic health record data from 216,221 adult patients. According to the recent study, the AI analyzed more than 46 million data points covering 11 years from University of California, San Francisco Medical Center (from 2012-2016) and University of Chicago Medicine (2009-2016).

Perhaps most notable is the claim that the AI can predict patient death 24 to 48 hours before current methods.
