White House to take executive action on AI

Reuters reports the Trump administration will take executive action in the next few weeks to ensure the U.S. keeps abreast of research and development opportunities in “industries of the future”—including AI and 5G networks.

In his State of the Union speech on Jan. 5, President Trump noted investing in such technologies as part of expanding infrastructure investments.

“This administration is committed to ensuring that America is positioned for dominance in the industries of the future, and that our workforce, current and future, is equipped with the skills they need to thrive in our modern, increasingly digital economy,” presidential adviser Ivanka Trump noted.
