Meet the 10 best hospitals in the world
North America has bragging rights to the five best hospitals in the world, although institutions specifically in the United States make up only nine of the top 25.
That’s according to a rating system devised by Statista Inc. and Newsweek, the latest results of which the outlet posted March 4.
Mayo Clinic is perched at No. 1, reinforcing its peerless reputation within the U.S., where it’s topped the US News & World Report annual list for five years running.
In introducing the global list, Newsweek says the best hospitals in 2021 share in common “consistent excellence” as identifiable by “distinguished physicians, topnotch nursing care and state-of-the-art technology.”
Here are the top 10:
- Mayo Clinic (USA)
- Cleveland Clinic (USA)
- Massachusetts General Hospital (USA)
- Toronto General/University Health Network (Canada)
- Johns Hopkins Hospital (USA)
- Charité/Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany)
- Karolinska University Hospital (Sweden)
- Singapore General Hospital (Singapore)
- Lausanne University Hospital (Switzerland)
- Sheba Medical Center (Israel)
U.S. hospitals making the top 25 include Stanford Hospital (No. 13), Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (17), Mount Sinai Hospital (19), University of Michigan Hospitals (23) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (25).
