Global mobile health monitoring market to reach nearly $2B

Revenues from remote patient monitoring using mobile networks will rise to almost $1.9 billion globally by 2014, with heart-based monitoring in the U.S. accounting for the bulk of early mobile monitoring roll-outs, according to market research firm Juniper Research.

AJR: Radiography offers poor findings for hip, pelvis pain in ED

In evaluating the accuracy of radiography of the hip and pelvis in patients arriving in the emergency department (ED), researchers from the department of radiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., found that radiography presented poor sensitivity and specificity findings in patients with pain or suspected trauma around these structures.

Five more states join AG suit against healthcare reform

Nevada, Arizona, Indiana, North Dakota and Mississippi have joined the 13 attorneys general (AG) who are party to the suit challenging the healthcare reform law, filed by Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum. Two of the state governors, Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, have sidestepped their AGs to partake in the lawsuit.

Virginia law expands access to telemedicine
