Michigan health system opens new ER department
North Ottawa Community Health System (NOCHS) in Grand Haven, Michigan, has opened an emergency department for area patients, reports the Grand Rapids Business Journal.
The health system has been working on the $9.67 million project for four years. The ER was built in conjunction with Grand Rapids-based architect firm Enviah and Lansing-based contractor Christman.
The health system was having trouble treating patients in its original ER department, which is what sparked the expansion.
“The expansion allowed us to double our overall capacity, double our trauma capacity and provide private rooms throughout with far greater amenities than we had,” said Shelleye Yaklin, NOCHS’s president and CEO.
