McKesson to buy developer of population management tools

McKesson has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MedVentive, a developer of population and risk management technologies, for an undisclosed sum.

MedVentive serves health systems, multispecialty clinics and payers. Based in Waltham, Mass., MedVentive was founded in 2005 by Jonathan M. Niloff, MD, formerly an associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive biology at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

MedVentive’s SaaS [software-as-a-service] technologies, MedVentive Risk Manager and MedVentive Population Manager, will be additions to the McKesson Enterprise Intelligence Solution suite to help healthcare organizations understand and manage patient care, care quality and costs across settings, conditions and/or other providers.
