Kaiser Permanente opens medical center on Capitol Hill

Nonprofit health plan and care provider Kaiser Permanente opened the doors to a new medical facility, The Kaiser Permanente Capital Hill Medical Center, last week in Washington, D.C.

With 79 provider offices staffed by approximately 400 employees and physicians, the Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center services include primary care, specialty care, full-service imaging, laboratory, pharmacy services and 24/7 urgent care services, according to the Rockville, Md.-based Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States.

The medical center is wired with Kaiser Permanente EMR HealthConnect, with kiosks in each exam room to help clinicians provide care and identify risks to patients, such as potentially harmful drug combinations. Patients also have access their medical records, can make appointments, send e-mail to their physicians and order prescription refills online, through My Health Manager via the provider’s online portal.

The Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center is a component in Kaiser Permanente’s plans for expansion throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, the provider stated.
