IHE-Europe elects 2010 leadership, expands membership

Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE)-Europe, an organization that seeks to accelerate the adoption of EHRs by improving the exchange of information among healthcare systems, has re-elected Peter Kuenecke as vendor co-chair for an additional two-year term.

According to the organization, Peter Mildenberger, radiologist and a professor at the University of Medicine in Mainz, Germany, and member of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), was appointed as past user co-chair, replacing Karima Bourquard, who was appointed to the newly created position of director of interoperability.

IHE-Europe has also signed on four new members this month, IHE Suisse, IHE Turkey, Forcare and VISUS.

IHE Suisse and IHE Turkey, are both National IHE Initiatives, bringing the number of National IHE Initiatives from seven to nine, and Forcare and VISUS are both small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are the first two SMEs to join IHE-Europe due to the newly-revised membership model for vendors in favor of SMEs, said the organization.
