IBM names chief health officer for Watson Health Unit

IBM has appointed Kyu Rhee, MD, chief health officer for the Watson Health Unit, according to Fortune.

Rhee currently serves as chief health officer of IBM, and will continue serving this position in addition to his new role. As chief health officer of the Watson Health Unit, Rhee will oversee building a community of health professionals, making sure provider needs are met and working toward new growth areas for the health data platform, according to Fortune. He is expected to "drive the business forward with a focus on clinical and population health expertise."

Prior to IBM, Rhee was chief public health officer at the Health Resources and Services Administration, and director of the Office of Innovation and Program Coordination at the National Institutes of Health.
