First rural medical hackathon slated for March
The University of Montana will host the nation's first rural medicine hackathon in Missoula in March.
The Frontier Medicine Better Health Partnership is collaborating with students at MIT Hacking Medicine to host the event March 20-22 that will focus on the unique challenges faced by rural providers. More than 25 percent of the U.S. population live in frontier or rural communities. The partnership was formed to address these communities' challenges and develop solutions that are scalable nationwide.
The Montana event will include chronic disease management, telemedicine, population health, EMRs, workforce development, quality of care at the end of life, care transitions and access to care in rural communities.
