Extension enters Android market

Healthcare software developer Extension is now offering context-aware clinical alerts and notification tools to the Android market.

The Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Extension has developed the Extension Mobile app to work with an assortment of end-user devices including Cisco, Apple and now Android mobile technology.

The Extension Mobile app enables time-sensitive clinical alerts and notifications to be deployed on Android-based devices. These alerting functions include clinical alerting for physicians and for nurses on Cisco IP devices or web-enabled smartphones.

In addition, the Extension app enables device messaging for individuals or groups to receive HIPAA-compliant, non-SMS, text-based messages on their preferred device, according to the company.
