Emdeon to acquire Chamberlin Edmonds for $260M

Emdeon, a Nashville, Tenn.-based developer of healthcare revenue and payment cycle management technologies, will acquire Chamberlin Edmonds & Associates for $260 million in cash.

Chamberlin Edmonds, a privately held company based in Atlanta, provides government program eligibility and enrollment services to more than 200 acute-care facilities in 30 states. Its technology-enabled services assist hospitals in assessing incidence of uncompensated care and reducing bad-debt expense, Emdeon said.

By integrating Emdeon’s revenue cycle management solutions with Chamberlin Edmonds’ enrollment services, providers will have an enhanced platform to assist patients in applying for financial assistance programs and increase the likelihood of receiving payments for services provided to those patients, according to Emdeon.

The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in this year's fourth quarter.
