Competing for patients with amenities
Gourmet food, posh pillows, lobby waterfalls, original art and valet parking are among the amenities that hospitals are offering patients to lure them away from competitors, according to an article in The Dallas Morning News.
“Patients make their decisions based on the information that’s available to them. It’s easier to determine creature comforts than whether the hospital is following the latest evidence-based protocols,” said John Romley, a research assistant professor at the University of Southern California's Price School of Public Policy.
