Cigna and New Haven Community Medical Group partner on ACO

Cigna and the New Haven Community Medical Group in Connecticut have banded together to launch an accountable care initiative.

The program will rely on care coordinators with access to patient information from Cigna to help providers track patients who may be past due for preventive screenings or failing to take prescribed medications. Cigna patients who receive care within the New Haven Community Medical Group integrated network of 583 physicians are eligible for participation in the initiative.

Cigna, a health payer headquartered in Bloomfield, Conn., is now engaged in 42 accountable care initiatives across 18 states and will implement a pay-for-performance fee structure to reward New Haven Community Medical Group for reaching cost and care quality goals, according to an Oct. 16 statement.
