CHIME, HIMSS pick Schooler as CIO of the year

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) announced that Rick Schooler will be the recipient of the 2011 John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year award and that he will be presented with the award at the annual HIMSS conference on Feb. 23 in Las Vegas.

Schooler is currently CIO and vice president of Orlando Health, an integrated healthcare network headquartered in Orlando, Fla. He is a senior member of HIMSS, has served on the organization’s public policy and advocacy committee and serves on the board of directors for the Central Florida Regional Health Information Society.
