Medical students are no doubt busy immersed in scientific literature while mastering best clinical practices to support their budding careers. But between their studies and typical 12-hour shifts at the hospital, when do they have time to learn the nuts and bolts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and all its implications for care delivery?

An April 9 Rhode Island Public Radio story discusses the major gaps of knowledge among future physicians on the ACA,  and some efforts to counteract that. It reported that in addition to not knowing the ins and outs of this major landmark legislation, many residents tend to order more expensive tests and treatments during a time when cost reduction is a high federal priority. To listen to the story, click below.
