Agfa expands cardio capabilities with Cedaron deal

Agfa HealthCare has expanded the capabilities of its Impax Cardiovascular PACS with software for cardiology outcomes management from Cedaron Medical.

Impax Cardiovascular now interfaces with Cedaron's CardiacCare solutions for cardiology outcomes data collection and national database reporting, according to Agfa. The offering allows clinical users to collect procedural information and import the required data to the American College of Cardiology (ACC) National Cardiovascular Data Registry, the Society for Thoracic Surgeons (STS) National Database and a number of state and provincial registries and databases. The capability is offered as part of Agfa's physician reporting solution.

The company said its combined solution of Impax Cardiovascular and Cedaron provides image and procedural report management for invasive cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures. It allows clinical users to collect procedural information and populate the required data into the appropriate ACC, STS or local registry templates. In addition to registry support, the Davis, Calif.-based Cedaron also provides clinical data users with tools to query, benchmark and report on the collected results.

As debate simmers over how best to regulate AI, experts continue to offer guidance on where to start, how to proceed and what to emphasize. A new resource models its recommendations on what its authors call the “SETO Loop.”

FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, MD, said the clinical community needs to combat health misinformation at a grassroots level. He warned that patients are immersed in a "sea of misinformation without a compass."

With generative AI coming into its own, AI regulators must avoid relying too much on principles of risk management—and not enough on those of uncertainty management.
