The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor will become the state’s first public university to offer a Masters of Health Informatics program and is currently accepting applications for the program’s inaugural class, which will begin in fall 2012.

“Leaders in the field are needed to develop the next generation of information tools related to health, and to ensure that the current generation of solutions is used to full advantage,” according to the University of Michigan.

“Graduates of the health informatics program who emphasize consumer health will develop solutions, taking full advantage of mobile and other emerging technologies, that empower consumers to become active participants in the promotion and maintenance of their own health,” the statement continued.

More information is available on the program’s website here.
