AT&T, VRI to deliver remote patient monitoring tool

AT&T has signed an agreement with telehealth services developer Valued Relationships (VRI) for a remote patient monitoring service to assist with the management of chronic diseases.

The service is scheduled to be available in the third quarter of 2012, according to the Franklin, Ohio-based VRI.

The tool will allow a VRI nurse-staffed telemonitoring center to monitor patients for basic vital signs to chronic diseases and send alerts when caregivers are needed. Healthcare providers and payors can provide a list of patients to AT&T, and VRI will equip, train, monitor and respond to alerts, the company added.
