Walmart Health expanding with 28 locations in 2024

Walmart Health is expanding with 28 new locations planned for 2024, entering two new states––Missouri and Arizona.

With the growth trajectory, Walmart Health will have more than 75 locations by the end of 2024.

Walmart Health is a healthcare services business offering medical services such as wellness checks, physicals, sick and injury checks, immunizations, chronic care management, in addition to dental, optometry and behavioral health. The new locations for 2024 include 10 locations in Dallas metro area, eight locations in Houston metro area, six locations in Phoenix metro area, and four locations in the Kansas City, Missouri, metro area.

“With this growth in 2024, we will nearly double our current footprint, offering accessible, convenient and affordable care in two new states and expanding our presence in Texas to help the communities we serve live better, healthier lives,” David Carmouche, MD, senior vice president of Omnichannel Care, wrote in a blog post announcing the new locations.

In addition to the new locations, Walmart Health is making changes to its health centers, including “changing the physical footprint and layout of the center so patients spend less time in the waiting room and more time with their doctor,” Carmouche wrote. Walmart Health is also integrating modern technology, including Epic’s electronic health record (EHR) system across all locations.

The new locations add to Walmart’s growing healthcare services and its position as a provider. More Americans are using outpatient services and alternative sites of care than traditional providers, giving Walmart Health more opportunity to capture those seeking care.

“With 90% of the U.S. population located within 10 miles of a Walmart, Walmart Health is in a unique position to provide quality, affordable health and wellness services where our neighbors already live and shop,” Carmouche said.

According to Walmart, the new state-of-the-art facilities will be approximately 5,750 square feet, located inside Walmart Supercenters, and will feature Walmart Health’s full suite of health services, including primary care, dental care, behavioral health, labs and X-ray, audiology and Walmart Health Virtual Care telehealth services.
