George Washington University’s Hirsh Health Law and Policy Program in Washington, D.C., has launched an online resource, Health Information and the Law.

The website, HealthInfoLaw.org, developed with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is an online guide to federal and state laws governing access, use, release and publication of health information.

According to information published on the university's website, the staff intends the site to be of use to a variety of audiences and will continue to build the resource, "adding depth to the research content as well as expert analyses of emerging legal issues that arise as health information is increasingly used to support provider performance measurement and improvement, public reporting, evidence-based research and payment and delivery reform."
