The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) has moved a step forward in its development of an oncology medical home model, recently approving a set of 16 quality measures adhering to guidelines outlined by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

“With the measures determined, our next goal will be to develop and promote payment models that reward and promote quality, value and superior outcomes while minimizing administrative and financial burdens,” said Bruce Gould, MD, a COA board member and medical director for the Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers, in a July 18 statement.

The COA, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing cancer patient care, hopes that an effective medical home model will be able to provide more comprehensive, cost-effective, coordinated care for cancer patients.
