RI HIE first to exchange behavioral health data

CurrentCare, Rhode Island’s health information exchange, is the first to exchange behavioral health data electronically. The Providence Center and Gateway Healthcare were the first organizations to submit behavioral health and substance abuse treatment information, known as 42 CFR Part 2 data, into CurrentCare.

ONC announces grants to further HIE, interoperability

The Office of the National Coordinator of Health IT announced two new cooperative agreements designed to further support of growth of health information exchange (HIE) and interoperability. DirectTrust.org received a one-year contract for $280,000 and the New York eHealth Collaborative received a one-year contract valued at $200,000.

Advocacy org publishes trust framework

Advocacy organization Patient Privacy Rights (PPR) has published its Privacy Trust Framework, a set of more than 75 auditable criteria based on 15 key privacy principles. The framework enables objective measurement of how well health IT, platforms, applications, electronic systems and research projects protect data privacy and ensure patient control over the collection, use and disclosure of their health data.
