Stage 1, Meaningful use deadline looms: Oct. 3

If you thought Oct. 3 was just another Monday, hold on to your EHR reports and think again. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) offered a reminder that Oct. 3 is the last day for professionals eligible for Stage 1 EHR meaningful use incentives to commence their 90-day reporting period for the first year of incentive payments.

While EHR Incentive payment begins in May, Nov. 30 is the last day for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals to register and attest to receive an incentive payment for fiscal year 2011, the agency added.

Eligible professionals should note that Feb. 29, 2012, is the last day to register and attest in order to obtain an incentive payment for calendar year 2011, according to CMS’ Milestone Timeline.

“Begin your reporting period by October 3rd to get on the path to payment for calender year 2011,” wrote CMS in the reminder. For more info on the incentive program, click here.
