Platform offers patient-reported outcomes at point of care for cancer providers

Flatiron Health and Vector Oncology are offering an EMR platform that enables oncology providers to gather and view patient-reported symptoms at the point of care.

Oncology's Patient Care Monitor, integrated with cloud-based OncoEMR, is designed to address oncology treatment, disease and business management. It collects data from patients at the point of care and between visits regarding 86 physical symptoms across treatment side effects, impairment, acute distress and despair and depression, according to a release.

The product aims to give oncology care providers additional insights to support quality of life and alleviate symptom burden for cancer patients. Flatiron Health and Vector Oncology also plan to collaborate on studies involving health outcomes and economic endpoints in support of clinical research efforts and real-world evidence generation.

"The integration of Flatiron's OncoEMR with our Patient Care Monitor will create an unmatched source of real world clinical and patient reported outcomes intelligence to improve the quality of cancer care and demonstrate the effectiveness and value of treatments," said Mike Choukas, chief executive officer of Vector Oncology, in a statement.
