Philips to provide N.Y. Yankees with medical equipment

Royal Philips Electronics has signed a contract to become a medical equipment supplier of the New York Yankees, providing the team with onsite digital x-ray and automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

As part of the agreement, the company's BuckyDiagnost CR system was installed inside Yankee Stadium in New York City. In addition, Philips HeartStart FRx Defibrillators are available in both the player areas and in select locations in the Stadium, providing emergency care to fans and players.

Christopher Ahmad, MD, team physician, said that having an x-ray system onsite will speed diagnosis and help determine an appropriate course of treatment for players. The AEDs are available in both the player areas and in select locations in the stadium to provide emergency care to fans that might be in need during a game.
