McKesson aligns with Regional Extension Centers

McKesson is teaming with more than 25 regional extension centers (RECs) in the U.S. to help physicians become meaningful users of certified EHR technology to improve primary care and qualify for federal funding.

Through the partnership, McKesson, a healthcare services and IT company based in Atlanta, is offering guidance to the centers on how to implement and optimize its systems in their respective markets. Each REC is approaching its market with different models, with the goal of being self-sustaining entities by 2014.

In addition, McKesson’s physician practice group is connecting participating RECs with its large value-added reseller channel and customer base of more than 100,000 providers.
