LA extension center names athenahealth preferred EHR vendor

Health IT Extension Center for Los Angeles (HITEC-LA) has selected athenahealth as one of its preferred vendors of certified EHR technology to solo, small group and clinic healthcare providers.

HITEC-LA is a Regional Extension Center (REC) and an independent, non-profit organization working as a project of L.A. Care Health Plan. Providers who are enrolled in HITEC-LA can purchase athenahealth’s EHR at a discounted rate with special terms and will be guided and supported by both organizations throughout the implementation process, according to the Watertown, Mass.-based company.

athenahealth offers a federal stimulus-bonus-payment guarantee program that assures its web-based services will help doctors meet EHR certification requirements for achieving meaningful use and obtain the Year 1 program incentives offered by the HITECH Act, the company added.
