Karen M. Bell named new chair of CCHIT
The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) has appointed Karen M. Bell, MD, as chair of CCHIT, effective April 26.
Bell, most recently the senior vice president of health IT services at Masspro, replaces retiring chair Mark Leavitt, MD, PhD, who has led the CCHIT since its inception in 2004.
Prior to her tenure at Masspro, a Massachusetts-based federally contracted quality improvement organization, Bell was director at the Office of Health IT Adoption and acting deputy at Office of the National Coordinator for Health It (ONC) and was ONC’s representative on CCHIT’s board of commissioners from 2006 to 2008, according to the Chicago-based CCHIT.
