CMS gives EPs more time for MU attestation
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the deadline for eligible professionals (EPs) to attest to Meaningful Use to March 20.
The agency still encourages providers to attest as soon as possible but this extension does allow EPs more time to submit their data.
This extension also allows EPs who have not already used their one allotted "switch" (ie., from Medicare to Medicaid, or vice versa) for the 2014 payment year. After the deadline, eligible professionals will no longer be able to switch programs.
CMS advises EPs to attest during non-peak hours such as evenings and weekends and start checking that information is up to date.
More information is available on the CMS EHR Incentive Programs website.
