Centra Health prepares for launch of new EHR system
Centra Health’s new electronic health record (EHR) system that will keep track of more than 300,000 patients is expected to go live Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a report by WDBJ7.
Centra’s multi-million dollar project—called Project Unison—aims to consolidate several of its EHR applications into one integrated system from Cerner, the report said. The project will bring together more than 300,000 patient records and draw in outside data.
The company is currently in the process of transferring all of its patient records to the new system with the goal for increased efficiency for physicians, patients and staff. Once the new EHR system goes live, Centra said it’s expecting patients to experience increased wait times.
"Our project is called Project Unison,” Centra Health CEO Michael Elliott said in the report. “And really what that means is bring things together in a harmonious way.”
