Wash. HIE drafts Axolotl image exchange service

Franciscan Health System has implemented the health information exchange (HIE) company Axolotl’s Elysium Image Exchange service to provide access to medical images for physicians and clinical care providers that use the Franciscan HIE.

The Franciscan HIE serves 600 healthcare organizations throughout the South Puget Sound region of Washington state, transmits more than 11 million clinical results annually and has an EMR with more than six years of online clinical history.

This service will enable HIE participants to access images originating at multiple radiology and cardiology image-provider sites, the Tacoma, Wash.-based health system added.
