Tenn. HIE chooses Axolotl

The nonprofit Health Information Partnership for Tennessee has selected Axolotl’s Elysium Exchange to build the state’s health information exchange (HIE) infrastructure.

HIP TN works to improve access to health information through a statewide collaborative process by providing services and infrastructure for the electronic exchange and use of health information.

HIP TN plans to connect existing HIEs across the state. HIP TN and Axolotl will deliver a connectivity platform, including core services to leverage existing infrastructure and provide options for accessing the network to those stakeholders not yet participating in an exchange, according to the San Jose, Calif.-based company.

Using Elysium Open Access, Axolotl’s service-oriented architecture platform, Axolotl will provide interfaces to HIP TN’s organizations representing existing HIEs, physicians, hospitals, other healthcare organizations and consumers, the company stated.

This work is being funded through an $11 million grant by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.
