SOAPware provides EMR to Puerto Rico physicians via Medens Cloud
SOAPware agreed to provide the cloud-based SOAPware EMR/practice management software to medical practices implementing the Medens Cloud.
The agreement is designed to rapidly accelerate the availability of healthcare information technology to aid in the delivery of smarter healthcare to both physicians and patients, according to SOAPware, a Fayetteville, Ark.-based developer of certified EMR and practice management software.
Medens will initially focus on delivering the technology to the island of Puerto Rico, where EMR adoption stands at less than 6 percent, before rolling out the cloud-based solution to U.S. physicians.
The Medens Cloud, based on Collaborative Care Solution technology from IBM and ActiveHealth Management, enables cloud-based practice management. For a monthly fee, doctors in Puerto Rico will have access to the healthcare IT and services of the SOAPware EMR/practice management and the Collaborative Care Solution, SOAPware stated.
The service also incorporates IBM’s health information exchange (HIE) technology, enabling healthcare providers to securely share data based on the same standards as HIEs across the U.S.
The Medens Cloud system, with SOAPware’s certified EMR, can enable physicians to qualify for HITECH incentive funds, the company stated.
