Siemens to acquire HIE developer

Siemens Healthcare has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MobileMD, an HIE provider.

According to the terms of the agreement, Siemens will acquire all issued and outstanding equity of MobileMD, of Yardley, Pa. Because the transaction is not subject to any regulatory clearances, it is expected that the closing will occur as promptly as practicable, Siemens said in a statement.

MobileMD provides 4D HIE, a cloud-deployed service, which addresses information sharing in care, service, economics and technology–providing physicians with secure, clinical and administrative information regardless of location, affiliation, EMR technology or vendor, according to Malvern, Pa.-based Siemens.
