Rochester RHIO connects six New York EDs
The Rochester RHIO (regional health information organization), which connects healthcare providers across nine counties in New York, has added six emergency department (EDs), which are using Rochester RHIO to view patient information from data providers in the N.Y. region.
The EDs include Clifton Springs Hospital, F.F. Thompson Hospital, Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Rochester General, United Memorial Medical Center and Wyoming Community Hospitals.
Rochester RHIO’s technology platform, powered by Axolotl’s Elysium Exchange, authorizes providers and physicians to view, manage and exchange patient information including lab reports, test results, medication history, insurance information, radiology images and reports, and critical medical information from EDs, according to Axolotl, of San Jose, Calif.
Patients must sign a consent form to allow providers to see their information electronically using Rochester RHIO, and more than 225,000 patients have consented, Axolotl said. If a patient has not yet signed a consent form but is involved in a life-threatening emergency situation, doctors can access Rochester RHIO on a one-time emergency basis unless the patient has declined consent to a particular provider, the company added.
