Orion, Cisco release HIE solution

Orion Health and Cisco have jointly released Rhapsody AXP, a health information exchange (HIE) solution to address public health reporting and improve the detection, tracking and response to possible disease outbreaks.

The HIE integrates the Cisco Application Extension Platform (AXP), Cisco Integrated Services Routers (ISRs) and Orion’s Rhapsody platform to provide a pre-configured and secure public health reporting solution, according to the Atlanta-based Orion and the San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco.

Rhapsody AXP is designed to be deployed with minimal IT resources within a hospital’s or clinic’s existing reporting system, the companies said. Cisco said its ISR with Cisco AXP provides a secure platform for transmitting and receiving healthcare data.
