Louisiana unveils statewide HIE
The Louisiana chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (LaHIMSS) demonstrated and officially launched the statewide Louisiana Health Information Exchange (LaHIE) at its conference in Kenner, La., last week.
The conference, called “Harmony in Healthcare,” featured a range of speakers and panelists who discussed a variety of topics that included meaningful use, healthcare reform and community health initiatives.
LaHIE, which had been piloted in Louisiana’s Arcadania region, was launched on Nov. 4. LaHIE will provide authorized healthcare providers to electronically exchange health information.
The system aims to improve patient safety, quality of care and health outcomes throughout the state.
The implementation of LaHIE was spearheaded by the Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum.
