iKnowMed EHR receives Surescripts certification

iKnowMed EHR System, a product of McKesson Specialty Care Solutions / U.S. Oncology, has received Surescripts certification for e-prescribing, formulary, benefits and medication history.

Physicians using iKnowMed to manage chemotherapy and other medications will be able to exchange prescriptions electronically with pharmacies connected to the Surescripts network and have real time access to the patient's eligibility and formulary information, according to U.S. Oncology, of The Woodlands, Texas.

Using iKnowMed, clinicians will be able to send new prescriptions electronically to a participating pharmacy and receive renewal requests directly in the EHR. In addition to e-prescribing, iKnowMed EHR provides real time access to a patient's insurance eligibility, plan formulary and medication history information at the point of care.

iKnowMed will provide prescription routing, benefits, and medication history functionality to  iKnowMed customers with the release of version 6.3, the company added.
