HIMSS: Emdeon promotes teamwork to reach meaningful use

Teamwork was the focus for Emdeon at the HIMSS10 conference last week, which featured the Harlem Globetrotters shooting baskets in the center of the booth. “We have a lot of customers here, so the theme really is teamwork,” explained Tommy Lewis, senior vice president of corporate communications. “It’s about us working with our customers to help them accomplish their objectives.”

The Nashville, Tenn.-based company showcased various products related to revenue cycle management, payment management--both electronic and paper-based solutions, electronic prescribing and lab ordering services.

A mobile application that was introduced at the show was Emdeon Vision, a web-based platform that allows healthcare providers to view healthcare claims from the point of submission through payor settlement, said the company. The product, which is compatible with the iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Palm and other smartphone operating systems, allows physicians to identify trends or potential issues while remotely monitoring their practice, Emdeon said.

Also announced at HIMSS10 was collaboration between Emdeon and health information exchange (HIE) technology provider Medicity in the creation of an HIE product that demonstrated meaningful use. The agreement will combine Emdeon’s financial and administrative health exchange technology with Medicity’s clinical iNexx health 4.0 platform, said Emdeon.
