Objectives:
  • Analyze the distinct roles that information (data sources) and communication (sharing methods) of that information play with respect to improving clinical and economic outcomes
  • Identify how effective exchange of medication information can reduce the occurrence of medication errors and adverse events
  • Recognize the significance of the requirement for implementing a flexible, abstracted technology infrastructure capable of integrating both data and services from multiple sources
  • Perform an assessment of the clinical value that varying sources of medication data offer, including commercial, ambulatory practice, hospital, insurance claims, and pharmacy
