Healtheway names founding members
To build interest and participation in its eHealth Exchange, Healtheway—a non-profit, public-private partnership (formerly known as the Nationwide Health Information Network Exchange)—announced nine founding members.
The group, which includes the American Medical Association, Epic, ICA, Kaiser Permanente, MedVirginia, Mirth Corporation, New York eHealth Collaborative, Orion Health and WEDI, is charged with guiding Healtheway as it builds the foundation for a secure nationwide health information exchange, according to a June 19 press release. Specifically, they will offer recommendations to the Healtheway board of directors on growing the eHealth Exchange and generally explore new health IT opportunities.
“Our founding members have committed to hands-on involvement in helping to shape Healtheway’s future and collaborating to identify and promote effective and secure, nationwide approaches to health information exchange. In addition to technology vendors working at the forefront of the market, the group also includes technology implementers and leading associations who represent a broad range of stakeholders, including the provider community,” Mariann Yeager, executive director, Healtheway, said in a statement.
