EHNAC accredits first HIE organization

The Utah Health Information Network is the first organization to earn health information exchange (HIE) accreditation from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC).

EHNAC, a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body based in Farmington, Conn., evaluated UHIN in the areas of privacy and security, technical performance, business practices and organizational resources as it relates to HIE policies and procedures.

In addition, EHNAC reviewed the organization’s process of managing and transferring protected health information and determined that the organization meets or exceeds all EHNAC criteria and industry standards.

UHIN was awarded EHNAC HIE Accreditation Program (HIEAP) accredited status for a period of two years. In addition, UHIN was also accredited with EHNAC’s Healthcare Network Accreditation Program (HNAP-EHN).

More information about EHNAC’s HIE accreditation program is available on the EHNAC website.
