DR Systems adds more hospitals to cloud-based beta trial

Information management systems provider DR Systems has added to its list of medical facilities taking part in beta trials of its Electronic Medical Information Exchange (eMix), a cloud-based technology for sharing imaging studies and radiology reports.

eMix's sharing of images and reports between disparate institutions and physicians via the internet can help associate patient images to EMRs and patients' personal health records, the company said. According to the San Diego-based DR Systems, the total number of facilities in the process of implementing eMix is now 21.

The newly announced institutions are:
  • Seattle Children's Hospital in Seattle;
  • Imaging Healthcare Specialists in San Diego;
  • Rapid City Medical Center in Rapid City, S.D.;
  • South Peninsula Hospital in Homer, Alaska;
  • Benifis Health System in Great Falls, Mont.;
  • Great Falls Clinic in Great Falls, Mont.;
  • St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan, Mont.;
  • Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell, Mont.;
  • St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences in Missoula, Mont.; and
  • Community Memorial Hospital of Ventura in Ventura, Calif.

Among the 10 facilities, six PACS vendors are involved in the beta tests, including Agfa HealthCare, Amicas, DR Systems, GE Healthcare, McKesson and Phillips Healthcare, the company said.
