N.C. breach impacts more than 2K patients

Cone Health, a provider based in Greensboro, N.C., is notifying more than 2,000 patients that their health information was compromised due to a clerical error.

By accident, the provider sent patient letters to the wrong addresses, compromising the names of the patients, their physician and the practice they were seeing. Social Security numbers, dates of birth or insurance information are not at risk.

“Patients are being individually notified of the mix up. Cone Health regrets any confusion resulting from the incorrect mailing,” according to a notice.
